Healthy Kids Silver

What is Healthy Kids Silver?

Healthy Kids Silver is low-cost health and dental coverage for eligible uninsured children in families whose income is above the limit for Healthy Kids Gold.

Coverage is provided through a managed care plan from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. The Harvard Pilgrim network of health care providers is available to your child. Dental services are available through the Northeast Delta Dental network of dentists.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Premiums are $32 or $54 per child per month. If one or more of your children qualify for the $32 level, your monthly premium will not exceed $128. The monthly maximum for children enrolled at the $54 level is $162. In a calendar year, the most you would have to pay in premiums and co-payments is 5% of your yearly income. Any amount you pay over this cost sharing amount will be refunded to you.

WHO QUALIFIES?

To qualify for Healthy Kids Silver, a child must be:

  • Under the age of 19
  • A New Hampshire resident
  • A U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Have had no other health insurance in the past six months
  • His/her family’s income falls within the Healthy Kids Silver income guidelines

*Note: Babies under the age of one are not eligible for Healthy Kids Silver. They may be eligible for the Healthy Kids Gold Infants Expanded program.

CAN I APPLY FOR MY CHILD IF HE/SHE HAS OTHER INSURANCE?

Children applying for the Healthy Kids Silver program must be uninsured for six consecutive months prior to enrolling. This rule may not apply for certain reasons. For example, if the child lost their coverage because their parent was laid off, this requirement may be waived.

WHEN DOES COVERAGE BEGIN?

Once your child is determined eligible for Healthy Kids Silver, we will send you an enrollment packet. If we receive your enrollment form and first payment by the last business day of the month, your child’s coverage will begin on the first day of the next month. For example, if we receive your enrollment form and payment by March 31st, coverage will begin on April 1st.

*Note: Medical and dental services received before enrolling in Healthy Kids Silver are not covered.
